Selling Gate Time?! OpenAIās StarGate Project Could Be The Worldās Biggest Simulator & Accelerator. Could Parallel The CERNās LHC The Worldās Largest and Most Powerful Particle Accelerator.
This Wonāt Be Accelerating Particles Though, But AI and Scientific Workloads.
Enabling (Hopefully Accelerating Too) Research and Discovery Comparable To CERN.
So Computing Is Like Project Tasks. Some Things Can Be Done At the Same Time. Thatās Parallelism. Other Things Are Sequential. Must Be Done One After The Other.
AI Executes Mostly Matrix Math. Lots of Parallelism. So SIMD Compute. More GPUs.
Scientific Requires More Sequential. So MIMD Compute. More CPUs.
Good To Do A Flex-Compute Build-Out and Time-Use. See Where The Future Compute Goes While Protecting The Downside. Say 75% AI Supercomputers with 25% General-Purpose Supercomputers.

AI: Is Not A Substitute For Gifts, Talents, Craftsmanship.
Remember, We Still Got The Best āNaturalā Neural Net and Best Experiences. AI Be Your Co-Collaborator. Until The Agentic AI-Embodied Humanoids Can Really Wash, Dry, and Fold Your Clothes ;). Have No Fear. An Old Movieās AI SkyNet Is Not Near!
(1) Desk Jobs: No- to Low- Brain Work Replaceable. Higher-Level Ideation, Abstraction, Gifts, Talents, and Potential IRreplaceable! ||
(2) Labor Jobs: No- to Low- Brain Hands-on Labor Replaceable. Higher-Level Fixers, Trouble-shooters, and Craftsmanship IRreplaceable!

Modern Supercomputer Architectures

Why Do Supercomputers STILL Need CPUs!

Supercomputers: Two Main Types.
1. Symmetric MultiProcessing (SMP) - Monolithic 'cluster' with dependent nodes.
2. Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) - True Cluster with independent nodes.
